The Self-Sufficient Homestead as a Practice of Regaining Personal Agenc

In a world of excess and growing dependence on external systems, choosing a simple life has become an act of courage.
In the Tent of Expression, Marcin will talk about creating a self-sufficient homestead as a daily practice of reclaiming personal agency — not only in the garden, but in all aspects of life. He will share his own journey of stepping away from ready-made solutions to forge an authentic path forward.
He will speak about:
✺ Permaculture as an art of regeneration
✺ Educational model homesteads
✺ Freedom from bills
✺ Low-tech solutions

Marcin Krzeszewski

Marcin Krzeszewski – designer, educator, and permaculture practitioner.
Since 2015, he has been running Kalpapāda — a self-sufficient homestead near Rzeszów, born from a deep desire to live closer to nature and become less dependent on external systems. It was a response to a personal health crisis that marked the beginning of a profound life transformation.
Today, Kalpapāda is a living organism — a place where energy comes from the sun, water from the rain, and solutions emerge from local, often repurposed resources. Marcin shares his experience of building a life grounded in personal agency — showing that much can be done by oneself, without waiting for permits, certifications, or large budgets.
At the heart of his work is the belief that, alongside the conventional path of earning money and outsourcing to specialists, there is another way — one based on developing your own skills, investing time in learning, and creating solutions that genuinely support daily life.
Systems that feed, warm, and supply water — and offer real satisfaction — built with your own hands, strengthen a sense of empowerment in a world increasingly distanced from direct action.
In Marcin’s view, permaculture is much more than garden beds and vegetables. It’s a mindset that can be applied to designing every aspect of life — from relationships and living spaces to work and everyday choices.
It’s a pursuit of balance between the human and the world around them — not through dominance, but through collaboration.
